i just got really sick right now and its not from my allergies, but from a biography about Garbage Island i just saw on VBS.com. Its located only 1,000 miles from the Pacific Coast and garbage is everywhere. If anyone really knows me well then you must know i am against polluting the environment and that i am a Go Green Girl. It is fact by Japan, that the women who were constantly having miscarriages had Bisphenol A in there bodies. If you think you are one of the ones that do not have it in your system then your wrong. Everyone on the planet earth has in in there system. Its so microscopic that you cant see it in anything. The products you consume are consumed with it. Well the island is 2x The size of Texas, and let me tell you, Texas is big enough to be a continent. Plastic particles float around in our waters but all we do is add on to it by buying things that contain plastic. Plastic is in the process of breaking down from a 2,000 molecular weight chain down to 1,000 in a uncontrolled way acting as basically a sponge for Persistent Organic Pollutants or POP. But thats just a nice way of saying it, the hard truth is that its, DDT and pesticides, just to name a few. Causing plastics that are causing pollution to be very toxic. Plastic, its a product of Bisphenol A used to make hard plastic called Polycarbonate and that being said its non recyclable. Non recyclable means that it goes in the trash, gets thrown away, is made for no good use but to torture our once loved environment. You are basically swimming, eating, and living in your own filfth and you dont even know it. When you go out to any coast for a swim and you come out with like a few gold pieces on you that look like glitter, guess what?, its plastic. And no dont think that its only the Pacific Coast. Its all in and on all water on planet Earth. The ratio for plastic to sea life is 6:1. It not only consumes our waters, but also consumes landfills and also shores, and any ground that we step on outside. Its sad to see that people have taken interest in there own selfish personal lives and dont give a damn about whats going on with the environment as far as pollution. What does it take for people to stop buying and using plastics and start helping to improve the greater good of the environment. Its the future generations that we have to start to try and save not yours, your living your life, dont be selfish and take from the lives of others. I have been doing my part in saving the greater good of the planet. Now its your turn. -Erica Mata
